Who is "The Sea"?

Sarah and I went to see "The Sea and Cake" play tonight at the Empty Bottle. She told me one of her always amusing stories...that some girl at her work was like, "I know Cake but I don't know 'The Sea' band." We laughed and laughed. Anywho, here is an image of my view during much of The Sea and Cake show. The second photo is Sarah after completing her allotment of pancakes, sausage and eggs.

Squirrel

This is the view next door from our front room. Poor squirrel didn't know how to get down. He ran around for quite some time on that window ledge and then squatted and thought about jumping for about 10 minutes. At some point he finally shimmied down the wall a little bit until he jumped into the bush two stories down.

Rehearsal Dinner

Ahh...the night has finally come to see my dear sweet Aimee, Abel, baby Nathaniel and see my Neysa and Stuart the night before their wedding. We had tasty Indian food, great martinis on the terrace and conversations about other dimensions. It was a great night with some great friends.

What is the chance?

Tonight, while walking home from the Bachelorette Party, I passed my car as it started to rain. I just glanced and caught a glimpse of what looked like a punched in windshield. After getting Ryan and my camera outside, I noticed a large tree branch next to my car on the grass as well as a set of large dents down my hood and many scrapes. What's the chance that a tree branch would hit MY car of all cars on the street?

Apparently Janet's condo meeting was all talking about it tonight asking everyone, "Oh, did you see that car on the street? The one with the tree branch!? Wow! That stinks!" (I am heavily paraphrasing a second-hand conversation here but doing so realistically.) Yeah, that's my car. I'm so popular now on my street.

Bachelorette Party

Tonight was Neysa's Bachelorette Party at a spa on Canal Street. For me this included a manicure and pedicure which was glorious. Clearly Claire needed at least a polish change...

Super Furry Baby

This morning I ran by Amy's house and got to finally meet her new cat Baby. She's SUPER FURRY and she let me pet her belly.

Update on the cupcake

So, here's where I am with the cupcake stand. I'm nearly finished transforming the whole thing into a "pink nightmare" (I can't help but throw in a quote from "A Christmas Story"). I missed a couple of holes here to cut out. Tomorrow I'm gonna trim that baby up and throw on some brown ribbon on the round edges. Splendid.

Martha Stewart

I'm not sure if you know this or not but I have always been a Martha Stewart follower. Upon getting cable with a DVR I promptly started recording her show each day. Sometimes I have at least a week's worth to watch on a weekend but I'm always amused at how she convinces people to help her clean rust off chairs while they talk about their new movie, make a brisket while they discuss their record album or wash their dog in a tub while they talk about the season finale of their TV show.

Martha has just launched a new product line at Michaels stores so I had to check it out...with the guise of getting some items for Neysa's wedding cupcake thingy. To my surprise (?), Ryan was more than happy to check out the crafts too. As he puts it, "Any man of my age who's mother wasn't much of a cook or crafty is in love with Martha Stewart." My thought is that he's with me because I'm the next best thing (and younger to boot).

Looptopia

So tonight was Looptopia. It was basically somebody's idea to put odd things out on the sidwalks, dance parties, live music, art, events, etc. all together in the Loop. It was supposed to last all night but I heard it was pretty poorly run and the police were shushing people away from most events later on the in the night. Here are a few images of what I saw around the Loop that evening. The ceiling image is from Marshall Fields, er, Macy's.

Happy Birthday, Loubear

Her birthday is actually tomorrow but we dragged her out tonight. She'll kill me for putting up any pictures at all but this is the best I can comply with her wishes.

Cupcakes!

Here's the cupcake stand for Neysa's wedding. It's a pretty genius idea...all made out of cardboard with supports. I think once it's gussied up with eight pounds of lace and ribbon it'll be a purty sight.
