Self-portrait

This is me tonight as I sat on my computer photoshopping. I need to go to bed!

Gwoss

I know I might be asking a bit much of the CTA since they can't keep the trains running on time or even keep them running, but can't they just hose things down every now and again?

Her new house

Since Beano had such a traumatic few days I decided to buy her a little house at IKEA yesterday. She adores it.

Shopping

With our unexpected day back home in Chicago, we decided to head out to IKEA and Woodfield to bum around. Beano loves the new rug, which is nearly the same as the old rug, but just new.

A visit with Grandma

So the decision had to be made this morning to adjust our tickets to head home today for fear that Beano would make it impossible for the cat sitter to give her the 5 more shots needed for the weekend. It wasn't very spendy to change our tickets on Southwest so we're headed out this afternoon.

Before leaving we headed over to Grandma's for a quick visit. Here's some fun photos of Katie, Ellie and Samantha with Grandma!

St. Louis Sights

We met up with Cathie and Kevin for dinner at the Boat House in Forest Park. The excitement of ducks running around at our feet was certain entertainment in the hot setting sun. I convinced them that going to Ted Drewe's was a fantastic idea afterwards. I got a tart cherry and Ryan got the cookie dough so he could compare it to Kopp's. His decision: No comparison. Ted Drewe's is better. :) Seriously guys, it is. It's lighter and tastier not to mention at Kopp's you get three flavor choices each day and at Ted Drewe's it's just about anything you could want mixed up right there for ya.

So after we ate our custard my phone rang...it was the cat sitter. Apparently my little Beano was throwing a fit over her insulin shots and wouldn't let her near her. The "cat whisperer" had to take Beans to the emergency vet to have them administer the shot (with two extra people pinning her down). I'm not sure what is going to happen here as my cat is really having a hard time without me at home. My poor Beano. :(

Almost my weekend!

They look kinda excited that I'll be leaving the office for two days, don't they?

She's getting better about letting me take her portrait. :)

So hot

We don't have a/c in our apartment just yet and this temperature spike in the 90s, along with the humidity, has made the place...well...a little sticky. I haven't seen either of Ryan's cats do anything more than lay around all day. Somehow Beano had a twenty minute power play session but then she went right back to snoozing.

Morning Bean

There's hardly anyone visiting the bean early in the morning. Since it's such a rare sight I snapped a few pics this morning on my way to work. Somebody needs to get out there and polish it, though!

Birthdays for Nikki & Sondra

Happy Birthday Nikki & Sondra! We spent the evening at Salud.

Puppet Bike

I love the puppet bike. Love it. I got to see my favorite - the cats - on my way back from lunch today. Hoooray!

Buggy River Blues

After a fantastic dinner with my folks at Francesca's in St. Charles we tried to walk around the river, but between the swarms of tiny bugs and the horrible covers of House of Pain coming from Riverfest we decided it was best to tour around in the car. (We met up with Ryan after he had far too many swigs at the Manor Restaurant and Lounge. Kidding.)

The walk to work

Now I'm starting to worry

Remember how that tree branch fell on my car? So yesterday I wound up driving to work...I had debated it...but I figured, since I was hanging out with Lou after work, it might be easier for me to just drive home. I got on Lake Shore Drive and saw what would have likely been my bus on the side of the road after a collision with another car. Hmmm. Interesting. When I got home I heard that the parking spot where I had been parked until that morning had a small tree in it. At some point in the day the tree snapped and fell right there...on what would have been my car if I hadn't have driven to work. Hmmmm. At nearly 1am there were fire trucks zooming down our street to put out a blaze in a garage parked directly across the street from my car. Hmmmm.

So when I had to move my car this morning and the only spot available was next to the fallen tree I thought twice about it. Janet made a good point - what's going to happen now...the tree already fell!

So yeah, uh, this has been creeping me out a little as though somebody is trying to get me...or get my car. Should I worry? Should I be comforted in the fact that this "somebody" keeps missing me now? Does that then mean that I'm now LUCKY instead of creepishly UNLUCKY? We'll see, I suppose. Let's keep the chin up here, kiddos.

On a side note, as I was taking the photos of my car this morning I heard a "Hey!" and there she was, my fabulous neighbor Janet, spying on me. I noticed in the photo you can see her start to open her window to holler at me. :)

Trifle

I made a delish trifle for desert last night with Janet, John, Ryan, Heids and Tabitha. Here's what was left tonight.

Kane County Flea Market

Went out to the Kane County Flea Market and managed to buy only pecans and take photos only in the parking lot. Maybe my yard sale road trip last year spoiled me on flea markets?!

No Brewers for You

We did not anticipate a sell out game for the Brewers vs. Marlins. Subsequently, this is as close as we got to the game.

Kopp's

Jill told us to head out to Kopp's frozen custard out in Milwaukee so we could compare it to Ted Drewe's. Hmmm...I think we'd have to have a lot more samples to decide. Am I right or am I right?! Here we are on a sugar high outside.

Missing Georgia

All of the Georgia O'Keeffe paintings were gone. :(

A day at the Milwaukee Art Museum. :)

Glenview

I guess I didn't realize how much I needed a day to sleep in. I've been running a little ragged since last week and after getting up in the 3am hour on Tuesday, I just found myself getting up pretty early...until today, when I woke up at about 9:30am. After realizing there was no way we were going to even leave the house before 11am, I came up with some hair-brained idea to go up to Glenview and postpone Milwaukee until tomorrow.

I strolled down amnesia lane with a dip cone at the Glenview Dairy Bar, a super cheap movie at the Glenview movie theatre, dinner at Ted's Montana Grill (which included splitting a bison burger) and a trip to the Glenview Target for local flavor. I got a blue raspberry dip cone today and Ryan got the toasted coconut. :)
